Are you ready to rock? Well you better be because
Guitar Hero III will be coming to a Mac or PC near you.
Frets on Fire,
an open source Guitar Hero clone, has been available for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS users for some time now but this marks the first for any of the
Guitar Hero games to appear on a non-console platform. Aspyr Media, a company that is known for bringing
Call of Duty 2 and
The Sims 2 to the Mac, will be behind development of both versions
You needn't to worry about only being able to use your keyboard to shred on your favourite tunes either because both versions will ship with a USB Gibson guitar. Keyboard, and keyboard and mouse controls will still be available in case you're wanting to rock out on the go but don't want to feel like a tool in public. No word yet on whether or not 360 and PS2 guitars will be supported.
A simultaneous release between all console and computer platforms is planned but isn't quite guaranteed but hopefully we'll see this one before the end of the year. No word yet as to the release for any of the consoles either but a demo is packed on with
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground for the 360 which is slated for an October 9th release in the US.
Planning on rocking out with
Guitar Hero on your computer or will you just stick to
Frets on Fire? Let us know over
