It's been a busy week for popular licenses being turned into team-based shooters and today brings us Nexon's First Assault, an FPS set in the Ghost in the Shell universe.
It all seems fairly by the numbers albeit with a cyberpunk flavouring, with players engaging in combat and upgrading weapons and skills as they go. In the admittedly rather nice trailer below you can get a feel for the arcade pace of the game in addition to seeing a few of the abilities unique to the game's eight characters.
A slice of the more unusual features courtesy of the press release: 'Players will carry out battle strategies and formations as they choose from among eight initial characters. Adding a unique layer to the experience, each of these can be customised with specialised body augmentations, weapon attachments and enhanced abilities. First Assault also features “SkillSync,” which allows players to leverage shared cyber-abilities with nearby teammates in combat modes to augment and increase their skills. By using SkillSync in smart and tactical ways, teammates can work together in devastating combinations in battle.'
The augmentations, attachments, and abilities aren't too surprising - although they do look fun - but I want to find out more about this 'SkillSync' system and what constitutes smart and tactical ways. Anything to encourage a bit more teamplay is very much approved of in Jake-land.
There's going to be a series of beta events through the process with the next one expected from October 1st - 4th. To find out more and to sign up to take part, visit the official website.
