This is still very much a rumour at the moment, so strap on your skepticism hats before you go any further, but the current buzz around Midway is that the next Mortal Kombat game could very well be a
Mortal Kombat versus DC Comics spin-off.
Yeah, I know, I think
MK versus Marvel would have been much better too, but now isn't the time for me to go off on how much I love Jamie Maddrox.
The rumour is stemming from the
Mortal Kombat Online fansite which claims to have got hold of the picture you see on the right from sources within Midway. The rumour is then lended strength by the fact that Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon is currently in the process of dribbling out information about the new
Mortal Kombat which is said to be in development. The information is coming out slowly though because Midway is currently hosting an American press event which may be covering the title.
Ed Boon's site,
Noob.com is currently showing a blurry picture of what looks to be Scorpion from
Mortal Kombat, as well as the anagram "Gemorab stifl wormotor".
And yes, there are shiny e-cookies available for the first person to solve the above word puzzle.
Elsewhere, Kotaku has managed to confirm that the next
Mortal Kombat game will feature "
no fatalities and little-to-no blood", which may help explain why DC is willing to let Batman be pitted against some
real bad guys.
