Google has launched a new and updated look for Youtube - one more compatible with those of us who like to watch Youtube videos on our TVs, via a PlayStation 3 or Wii.

The new consolified home for Youtube has a new layout that is supposed to be easier to navigate and use with a Wii remote or PlayStation 3 gamepad. The new page has bigger and clearer text too, which should help reduce eye strain if you're sitting way back on your couch.

Unfortunately though, while the videos are now larger on the console site, the quality hasn't been improved at all - the result of which is badly compressed video in a lot of cases and some of the most blocky looking clips we've seen.

Either way, console users looking to make use of the new Youtube page should direct themselves to Youtube.com/tv and check it all out for themselves. If you're just anxious to have a peek at it on the PC then you'll need to use Firefox's Download User Agent Switcher and use it to emulate a PlayStation 3.

Or you could just use the regular Youtube website and enjoy your videos in better quality. It's up to you.

Do you use the online facilities of your console to watch streaming videos? What do you think of Youtube's new site? Let us know your thoughts in the forums.
