The Nintendo Wii will be under $250, the Japanese firm has revealed.
The price isn't exactly a surprise, with many expecting just that. The Wii will compete with other next-gen consoles on price and on gameplay, rather than on fancy (and expensive) hardware features.
The exact price isn't known, and it seems possible that the Wii could hit $200, although this announcement rather makes it seem that $249 is more likely.
News of the pricing comes from Nintendos financial team, following a profit announcement in Osaka this morning.
In related news, there is a rumour floating around that the Wiimote will integrate a microphone for voice control of games, much as the Nintendo DS has one. An
enterprising blogger has pulled apart some of Nintendo's tech diagrams and the conclusion seems pretty sound.
Are you still excited about the Wii? What kind of price do you think Brits will see if the Yanks get $250?
