Epic Games has announced that PC gamers can expect to get their hands on an open beta of
Unreal Tournament 3 within two weeks, but possibly by the end of this week.
The open beta will be aimed solely at gamers using Windows, but Mac OSX and Linux versions are being worked on according to
Eurogamer, though no release dates have been mentioned.
Rein confirmed the open beta on the
official forums, confirming that the game will allow online multiplayer and offline bot matches. According to Rein, the beta is intended to allow Epic to see how
Unreal Tournament 3 runs on a wide range of machines, as well as get some feedback about the gameplay.
Rein also took the chance to update the fans on the status of the PlayStation 3 version of the game. The PS3 port is, according to Rein, looking like it will still ship alongside the PC version of the game and will hopefully have some lucky fans enlisted to test the game in a closed beta.
Rein directly disputed the news that the PS3 version had been
delayed until next year, saying that Midway had said this out of an obligation to warn its shareholders about the possibility.
So, how excited are you about
UT3 and which element are you most psyched about? Will you be playing with or without an Ageia Physx card? Let us know in
