The long awaited public beta of
Battlefield 3 has kicked off today, with Origin pre-order customers and those who pre-ordered last year's
Medal of Honor title starting to receive their beta keys via email from midday today. However, everyone else will have to wait for a few more days, when the beta
opens to all on Thursday 29 September.
The beta launches with just one map, Operation Metro, and offers only one game mode; Rush. However, there are no limits to the weapons and gadgets that players can unlock. Sadly, you won't be able to play the beta right up until the game launches on 25 October, though; the beta will end on 10 October - we always knew those Dice guys were teases.
Riding the beta wave of excitement and hype, both Nvidia and AMD have also released BF3 beta graphics drivers to bring their stables of GPUs up to date for the new game. You can grab them at the links below.

Nvidia 285.38 beta driver
As with the full version of BF3, the BF3 beta requires EA's digital distribution platform Origin to download and run, as well as track stats and servers.
Have you pre-ordered on Origin just to get the beta early, or are you waiting patiently for Thursday to roll around and try before you buy? Alternatively, perhaps you're boycotting BF3 as a protest against Origin? Either way, let us know in the
forums.
