Electronic Arts has announced a release date for it's much awaited release datenext-gen shooter, Battlefield 3. The announcement came as part of the E3 2011 event.
Battlefield 3 will be released on October 25th 2011.
The game will launch simultaneously on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, and if you can't wait until October, there'll be a multi-platform open beta available from September.
EA has previously promised early BF3 beta access to owners of Medal of Honour, so expect that to kick off sooner.
Sony has meanwhile announced that the PlayStation 3 version of the game will come packaged with Battlefield 1943, as part of its own E3 2011 press conference.
DICE also made a somewhat predictable dig at Call of Duty's Elite service, with its own Battlelog stats-tracking system. Battlelog will be free to all BF3 users, and will handle in-game friend lists, as well as your KDR.
