Electronic Arts has shipped 10 million copies to retailers across the world, many of whom are already requesting more stock.
Three million copies of the game had been sold as pre-orders before the game was released, confirmed Electronic Arts' COO Peter Moore in an investor call yesterday.
Despite Battlefield 3's successes, however EA says it is unlikely to return Battlefield to it's multiplayer-only roots and plans to keep the singleplayer component for the foreseeable future.
'
The single play experience is important. It's a great way to get fans into the experience, have them train up and get ready for multiplayer,' EA's Frank Gibeau told
Eurogamer. '
A lot of fans just enjoy having that single player experience. So I think you have to have both.'
'
Remember as well that single player is often how new players ramp into the game,' added EA CEO John Riccitiello. '
It's a way for new players to get exposed to a franchise.'
