Blizzard has reconfirmed that it is aiming for a 2010 release date for
StarCraft 2, with the hope being to get the game out and on shelves within the first half of 2010 - even though the game has only just entered beta.
The news comes from
the official Blizzard podcast, where
StarCraft 2's lead producer, Chris Siagty, revealed some of the plans for the game.
"
We were targeting three to five months for the beta, we're really at a three month period of time for the beta at this point. We are still targeting the first half of this year... [for release]," Siagty said.
The StarCraft 2 beta kicked off earlier this month, though Blizzard CEO Michael Morhaime was clear when discussing the launch of the beta that he could not explicitly commit to a mid-2010 release for the game. Hmm.
We'll be taking a look at the beta and telling you what we think later this week, just in case you haven't had a chance to have a go on the game just yet - so stay tuned.
In the meantime, let us know what you think of how the game is shaping up and Blizzard's plans to
divide the game into three smaller titles, in
the forums.
