GamesCom 2010: Bioware and Electronic Arts have confirmed that players will be able to import their
Dragon Age: Origins save games into
Dragon Age 2.
The savegames will not allow players to carry their heroes over into the second game however, as
Dragon Age 2 introduces a new, preset character called Hawke.
Instead, savegames will port some crucial choices over into the sequel, which takes place in an entirely new part of the the
Dragon Age universe.
Chatting to
bit-tech about the game, EA's David Silverman said that examples of choices that could be moved across would include what players did with the Urn of Sacred Ashes in
Dragon Age: Origins.
Silverman then explained that
Dragon Age 2 will overlap with
Origins in some places – a section we went hands-on with detailed the flight of the main character from Lothering as it was destroyed by the Darkspawn in
Origins.
Dragon Age 2 will have a much more epic scope that
Origins, however, with the story taking place over an entire decade, giving players a chance to see the long-term effects of their actions.
We'll be bringing you an in-depth preview of
Dragon Age 2 in the near future, but until then you can discuss the game in
the forums.
