DreamHack, billed as the world's largest computer festival, is coming to the UK for the first time with a September event at the Copper Box Arena in London.
Launched in Sweden and attracting a whopping 104,000 visitors to its last event, DreamHack is most famous for its giant LAN parties which bring competitors from across the world to its venues. While it has spread from Sweden to six countries in the past few years, DreamHack has so far been absent from our shores - until now.
The DreamHack Open tour is to bring the DreamHack LAN party goodness to the UK for the first time, as the initial stop on a seven-venue tour of Europe. Launched in 2012 as a touring StarCraft II competition, DreamHack Open 2015 has another first under its belt: the first time the event has included Counter Strike: Global Offensive as an official title.
Open to professional gamers and amateurs alike, the event boasts a $40,000 prize pool for the best of the best. Tickets for the venue, the Copper Box Arena, are priced at £10 per day or £18 (plus fees) for the two days, the 19th and 20th of September 2015. Following DreamHack London, DreamHack Open will reach Stockholm on the 25th and 26th, Cluj-Napoc on the 30th of October and 1st of November, Moscow on the 5th and 6th of December, Leipzig on the 22nd to the 24th of January, and Bucharest on the 22nd to the 24th of April. These dates are in addition to the usual DreamHack Winter and Summer events, scheduled for November the 26th to the 29th and June the 18th to the 21st respectively.
