EA's Visceral Games studio, who are about to release
Dante's Inferno and who previously created
Dead Space, may already eyeing up a new franchise that they can adapt into a videogame - namely, Macbeth.
Visceral Games' executive producer Jonathan Knight claims that he's been thinking about how to adapt the The Scottish Play into a game for a long time and that, now
Dante's Inferno is readying for release he may finally be able to get started on it.
"
Macbeth the game is something I've been thinking about for years," Knight told
IndustryGamers. "
But now, I think the emotional quality that games are achieving and the value level of the acting and the sound work makes it possible."
Knight admits that
Macbeth: The Game may need a bit of tweaking, but says he's confident the franchise could be faithfully turned into an exciting videogame thanks to the abundance of "
witches and a supernatural experience along with plenty of intrigue and murder."
Surprisingly, Knight isn't the only developer eyeing up Macbeth for a game adaptation though. Fashion designer turned game designer Marc Ecko has been trying to get a "
re-imagined version" of Macbeth off the ground for a while, says
Destructoid.
Visceral Games is unlikely to get around to a Macbeth game for a while as the team is already working hard on
Dead Space 2. The studio is also rumoured to be working on a Jack the Ripper game, simply titled as '
Ripper'.
