Valve has revealed that the upcoming expansion for
Left 4 Dead 2, titled
The Passing, will be released in March this year and that the original
Left 4 Dead will get an expansion about a month after that.
The information was let slip by Valve's Chet Faliszek at Microsoft's X10 event in San Francisco, who told
Kotaku that two updates were on the way - one for each game.
Interestingly, both add-ons will tell a single story too. The unnamed
Left 4 Dead 1 expansion will focus on the original cast as they battle through a new area.
The Passing will then have the
Left 4 Dead 2 characters meeting up with Louis, Zoe, Bill and Francis and working together to escape a zombie horde.
The Passing won't feature eight-player co-op though, so don't get too excited. Instead, players will be cast as the
L4D2 characters and the original crew will be AI controlled.
A new uncommon infected will be introduced in
The Passing too - The Fallen Survivor, who sometimes drops equipment when slayed.
On the downside though,
The Passing is unlikely to be a free expansion, though Valve has only said that it will announce pricing closer to the actual launch.
