1C Company has announced a new standalone expansion pack for crazily in-depth World War II strategy game
Men of War, dubbed
Men of War: Red Tide.
Comprising of more than 20 missions and not requiring the original game to play,
Red Tide will give players a chance to play as the much feared Black Coats - the nickname given to the Soviet Marines who specialised in coastline engagements.
Just as with the game proper,
Red Tide will involve a lot of direct control for units, but this time players will be able to jump behind a greatly expanded selection of units and vehicles used by the Black Coats - everything from landing craft to armoured trains. There are plenty of new support options too, including hydroplanes, bombers and a selection of different naval crafts.
The campaign will focus on the Black Sea missions of World War II, including theatres such as Odessa, Sevastopol, Theodosia, Eltingen, Nikolaev and Constanta, according to the press release. Interestingly the campaign is supposed to be very story-driven too and is heavily based on the writings of Soviet author Alexander Zorich according to 1C Company.
Men of War: Red Tide is set to be published later this year by Aspyr Media and will be available both in stores and digitally, though no specific digital distribution platforms have yet been announced.
