Infinity Ward has confirmed that the PC version of
Modern Warfare 2 is not delayed, responding to claims that the PC version had been pushed back by two weeks compared to the console releases.
The news of a
PC delay was originally reported about a month ago, but existed as nothing more than a rumour since then as Activision and Infinity Ward refused to either confirm or deny it until now.
Speaking to
VG247, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling confirmed that there will be no delay either. Kind of, anyway.
"
Has the PC version been delayed?" Asked VG247.
"
Officially, no." replied Bowling, who wouldn't elaborate any more on the matter.
The news of the PC release is getting drowned out by
the IWNet furore right now, but Bowling's comments are certainly interestingly phrased and some speculate that an official PC delay may be announced soon. We'll just have to wait and see.
Bowling did confirm that the PC version of the game would be released through Steam however, later elaborating that it will integrate with a new matchmaking system called IWNet that will remove dedicated server support and fundamentally change the PC gaming experience.
For now, the PC release date for
Modern Warfare 2 is the same as the other platforms - November 10th.
