The Sims 4 will not be including toddlers or swimming pools because of the work that has gone into new systems built into the game according to Maxis.
Maxis vice-president and executive producer Rachel Franklin gave the explanation on the official Sims 4 site saying that the trade off was necessary to accommodate all of the new tech the developers wanted to include.
’When we sat down and looked at everything we wanted to do for this game, all the new tech we wanted to build into it, the fact was that there would be trade-offs, and these would disappoint some of our fans,’ said Franklin. Hard pill to swallow, believe me, but delivering on the vision set out for The Sims 4 required focus.’
The new additions to the latest iteration of the virtual dollhouse include new AI systems, new animation systems, new audio positioning tools, new routing intelligence and upgraded logic. This will apparently lead to individual Sims being able to express more emotions, a greater range of personality traits and be able to participate in larger numbers of interactions.
Build mode is also getting an overhaul, allowing houses to be built room-by-room with rooms being able to be swapped out and exchanged, giving more choices and flexibility during construction.
Last month, Sims fans were surprised to learn that toddlers and pools, which have long been an entrenched feature of the series, would not be included in the Sims 4 at launch. The game is set to be released early September.
