Esteemed FPS developer id Software has confirmed that its next game, the post apocalyptic Rage, will include a level editor for the PC version.

Speaking to PC Gamer, id's Creative Director, Tim Willits, said that all the the same tools that id used to make the game will be included.

'Pull down the console, type 'id studio', then press enter,' said Willits. 'Then, bam, there's all the tools we use.'

Willits did warn that the tools would therefore be more difficult to master than some modders might be used to, however. He noted that the tools, like the game, had moved on significantly from id's previous games. id Software had previously warned that Rage might be too complex for modders to tackle, in fact.

'Building levels from scratch is more difficult, because we have a layer system in some of the levels,' said Willits. 'I can foresee somebody modding up Wellspring [a town in-game] and adding different characters, giving them different voice-over.'
