THQ has unveiled a new, free batch of downloadable content for
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 2 - one which will be focused mainly at expanding the online game and introducing a brand new game mode.
Dubbed The Last Stand, there new mode will allow up to three fighters to try and fend off waves of enemy - with the aim being to survive all 20 waves. The waves will naturally grow in challenge as you progress too, with THQ claiming that most players will be unable to survive past the 12-16th waves.
Thankfully, your characters will still be able to level up across the different waves and can make use of their equipment as per usual - they've even gained the ability to revive each other.
THQ says that the main function of the Last Stand mode is to try and entice the singleplayer fans over to the multiplayer game, as well as to discourage piracy and to help incentivise players away from trading their copies in, obviously.
There's no exact release date nailed down for the DLC just yet, but speculation over at
Eurogamer is that it'll be here by the start of October and we see no reason to disagree. THQ has also hinted that this will be the first of a number of updates and free expansions for the game - yay!
