EA has opened sign-ups for the Windows and Xbox One beta tests of Titanfall, its upcoming sci-fi shooter, with the window for applications closing on Friday.

Eager to iron out any possible bugs in the multiplayer portion of the game - if only to prevent further investor backlash - EA is offering a small subset of the general public a chance to try out a small portion of the game ahead of its official launch in March. Open to Xbox One and Windows PC owners with an Origin account - Xbox 360 gamers being, for some reason likely related to the last-minute delay on that platform's release of the game, excluded - an opportunity to get in some early practice.

The beta trial, open to gamers world-wide providing they've got at least a passing knowledge of the English language, includes three of the game's multi-player modes: Attrition, Hardpoint Domination and Last Titan Standing. Attrition and Last Titan Standing, EA explained in its announcement, are variants of team deathmatch, while Hardpoint Domination is a land-grab variant.

The sign-up page is live now, and will continue to accept applications until Friday. Those lucky enough to be selected will be notified on the 17th of February, when the beta formally begins. EA has not yet indicated when the beta period will end, but it is likely to last right through to the official launch of the game for the Xbox One and Windows platforms on the 11th of March.

A few more details regarding the beta are available on the official website.
