MMO Wurm Online's lead developer is offering up a €10,000 reward for information on a recent denial of service attack suffered by the game.
Developer Rolf Jansson offered the reward for any 'tips or evidence leading to a conviction of the person responsible for this attack' .
The DDoS attack hit shortly after the game's R1777 1.2 release on February 18, forcing Wurm Online's hosting provider to take it offline as it was affecting its other customers.
Jansson also stated that they were intending to change hosting providers anyway to improve service in the future, but for now things are largely out of the developer's hands until the hosting provider brings them back online.
Wurm Online is expected to be restored today and players with a premium account will be issued compensation for lost time.
Officially released in December 2012, Wurm Online has been playable since 2006 and has enjoyed a cult following thanks to the depth of its crafting system and steep learning curve.
Developed by Jansson and Minecraft creator Markus 'Notch' Persson, gameplay features survival and crafting elements with every object in the world having been created by a player. Persson left the Wurm team in 2007 to work on what would become Minecraft.
The game's most recent update included the addition of wagons, ship transporters, improved distant trees and maps.
