Quantic Dream's notorious Beyond: Two Souls sold more than one million copies in 2013 according to the developer.

The quick-time-event driven and story-heavy title from auteur developer David Cage featuring Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe launched in October 2013 and shifted its one millionth unit just before Christmas.

Quantic Dream points out that in the three month period leading up to Christmas Beyond: Two Souls sold 70,088 in the developer's home market of France.

Whilst this is more than the game's predecessor Heavy Rain managed, Beyond: Two Souls still has a long way to go before it sells the 3 million copies that Heavy Rain has managed to date.

Celebrating the million-copy milestone, Quantic Dream released a word-cloud of the most commonly used words used in user comments across the internet to describe Beyond: Two Souls.

Popular words included 'emotional', 'stunning', 'awesome', 'Page' and 'Dafoe'.

At release, Beyond: Two Souls received a highly mixed critical reception with many reviewers commenting on a shaky plot and a lack of interactivity with the actual game.

Quantic Dream is currently working on a game for the Playstation 4 which according to Cage will be very different from both Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain.

The studio also produced The Dark Sorcerer, a tech demo for the new Sony console based on the Beyond: Two Souls engine to demonstrate some of the things that could be achieved. Cage stated that the quality evidenced in the demo was what they considered to be the minimum quality that could be wrung out of the Playstation 4.
