Sony has announced it is planning a new reality show that will air exclusively on the PlayStation 3, with casting already underway for the PSN-only series.

Called 'The Tester', the show will be based around a group of everyday gamers who have to compete in a series of gaming challenges that are "designed to test their mental prowess, dexterity, and video game knowledge". So, that'd be a quiz about the history of Final Fantasy and speedruns of Drake's Fortune then.

The winner will apparently get the chance to work as a games tester for Sony, which is often held to be one of the most depressing and thankless jobs in the industry but which Sony labels "every gamer's ultimate dream job".

Set to air before the end of the year, the official website is already online and accepting applications, should you want to compete for a chance to work for Sony.

Will you be applying to the star in the show, hopeful that you can win a chance of correcting mistakes in Sony games at the end of it all? Let us know in the forums.
