2K Games has announced a release date for upcoming X-Com reboot, XCOM, declaring that the game will hit shelves on 9th March, 2012 in the UK.
The US will get the game a few days earlier, for no real reason. Americans should look for XCOM to appear on 6th March.
XCOM reimagines the classic X-com series of turn-based strategy games as a first-person shooter set in the 1950s America. Players will lead teams of agents against aliens attacking the suburbs, making use of both weapons and scientific abilities.
Players will be able to launch surgical strikes against enemies, capturing their weaponry and using it against them.
2K also took the time to confirm a PlayStation 3 version, which will launch at the same time as the previously announced PC and Xbox 360 versions.
