Total War: Rome 2 is set to receive its first campaign expansion, Caesar in Gaul.
The expansion will have a much narrower focus and will be limited to between 58-51BC, focusing on the Gallic Arverni, the Germanic Suebi, the Belgic Nervii and of course Rome itself. The expansion will feature a new map of Gaul and Britannia including 18 provinces to fight over.
With the shorter time period, each year will be boosted up to 24 turns with seasons affecting elements of gameplay and making an impact on tactics. Players will be able to go through the campaign assuming the roles of characters including Caesar, Mark Anthony and Vercingetorix.
As well as the new campaign, Caesar in Gaul will also bring with it three new factions, the Nervii, the Boii and the Galatians, to play through the original Rome 2 campaign with. These factions will have their own unique units.
Due to the less sprawling geographical scope of the campaign, the expansion will also lend itself to less time consuming two player co-operative or competitive multiplayer campaigns.
Rome 2 has already had some DLC released in the form of the Greek States culture pack, but Caesar in Gaul is a much larger and in depth expansion containing a full new campaign.
Publisher Sega confirmed the expansion will cost £9.99 and will be released on December 12.
