It's been confirmed that the new version of footballing classic Sensible Soccer will be out in the summer. Huzzah!
Hands up if you remember the good old Amiga days of Sensi? Back in the day, it was the major competitor to a brand new title called FIFA Football. Whatever happened to that one, eh?
Sensi is good, old-fashioned arcade fun. Eschewing realism for fast-paced knock-around gameplay, it caused more broken joysticks than possibly any other game. It was designed and developed by the legendary Jon Hare, who also made Cannon Fodder, another golden-oldie.
Jon is producing this new version, which sports cel-shaded players and the same outrageous gameplay.
Speaking to our mates over at Eurogamer, Jon said that:
"The all new Sensi is the perfect blend of past, present and future with all the speed, fun and playability of the original combined with all the animations, four-player fun and spiced up with a magical sprinkling of original gameplay features that have never been seen before, including a mega single-player mode, 360-degree control and video style replays featuring cel-shaded caricatures of those lovable big-headed players,"
At which point he realised he'd forgotten to breath and keeled over.
The EG boys tell us that the game will feature over 350 teams worldwide, with full editing abilities. We are incredibly excited, and can't wait to get our hands on this. If you're like us, why not
try one of these?. In the mean time, let us know what you think
over in the forums.
