In a move that has probably come about as a side effect of the Vivendi Activision merger with Blizzard, Sierra is shutting down servers for 21 of its most classic computer games, many of which can easily be considered all-time classics.

What exactly is going to happen to Sierra has long been an issue for Activision Blizzard and already several in-development games coming from the publisher have been cancelled. In fact, the last we heard, several attached development studios were being assessed for sale or closure, including Massive Entertainment of World in Conflict fame.

Come the start of November, the official servers for all the games listed below will be shut down.

1. Alien vs Predator 2
2. Arcanum
3. Caesar IV
4. Dark Reign 2
5. Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom
6. Empire Earth
7. Empire Earth 2
8. Empire Earth: Age of Conquest
9. Ground Control
10. Ground Control 2
11. Homeworld
12. Homeworld: Cataclysm
13. Nolf 2
14. Red Baron
15. Sanity
16. Star Trek: Armada
17. SWAT3: EE
18. SWAT3: GOTY
19. The Incredible Machine
20. Tribes 2
21. Vampire

Of course, the loss of some of those games will pass most by without effect - but AVP2's sudden departure is enough to leave a big, facehugger-shaped hole in the hearts of many LAN gamers. Sniff.
