Sony has finally cottoned on to the fact that downloading demos for the PSP is actually a really nifty idea, and has released the new demo for LocoRoco.

LocoRoco is a bizarre Japanese platformer. You play the titular character, who is basically a blob of goo. The idea is to move through levels overcoming puzzles. To move through small areas, you can split yourself into smaller blobs of goo then reassemble yourself later.

It doesn't sound particularly challenging, but the game really looks like being awesome fun. The Loco rolls around levels which are tilted using the L and R buttons on the PSP.

The game uses the same style of bright graphics and catchy-funky soundtrack that has made the Katamari games such a success on the PS2.

You can go and grab the demo for the game over on the Japanese PSP site. However, you'll need to update yourself to firmware version 2.7, which you can grab here. There are full instructions courtesy of the guys at Eurogamer.

Download it and try it out. Awesome Japanese culture or stupid waste of good FPS time? Let us know your thoughts over in the forums.
