OK, so usually we don't care about consoles too much, unless they're next generation or feature some cool technology.
However, this news snippet is just too good to pass up.
Next month, SEGA is releasing Sonic Gems collection on PS2 and GameCube, which will have Sonic R, Sonic Game Gear, Sonic CD etc. So far, so boring.
But the real kicker is that the Sonic Gems collection is going to include
all three Streets of Rage games!
Yes!
Streets of Rage was the absolute pinnacle, most would agree, in the side-scrolling beat-em-up popular back in the late 80s. Featuring the exploits of Axel, Blaze and a host of other characters, the games were hits on the SEGA Megadrive / Genesis console.
If all this has set you on a retro trip, check out
Streets of Rage Online for all the info you could possibly want about the game.
You can also check out
Eurogamer for more info on Sonic Gems.
On the downside, does anyone else think that SEGA are trading off their reputation from the last 15 years, rather than producing any new games worth playing? (Super Monkey Ball aside...) Comments?
