The Tank Museum has opened an exhibit themed around the film Fury with the help of Murray Walker, OBE and sponsorship from World of Tanks developer Wargaming.
The exhibit shows how the museum helped with the creation of Fury, directed by David Ayer and starring Brad Pitt. The ribbon to the exhibit was cut by Ian Aldridge and Brian Frost, Tank Museum employees who were involved in the filming of Fury.
Walker, best known for his Formula One commentary career, was chosen to give a keynote speech to the audience as he is a former Sherman tank commander and served in the Scots Greys during the second World War.
Wargaming has also set up several World of Tanks stations on the museum floor, allowing visitors to try the free-to-play online tank-em-up and recreate battles featured in the film.
The Fury exhibit will run until the end of 2015 and entry is included in the admission to the Tank Museum. The rest of the museum features 300 armoured vehicles and even has the world’s oldest surviving combat tank in the form of an original British First World War Mark I.
Wargaming has extended its portfolio from the hugely successful World of Tanks to include World of Warplanes and World of Warships. This year, it also launched World of Tanks Blitz, bringing the franchise to mobile devices.
