The Witcher, which has already been released twice for the PC, is now going to be getting a console version too according to publisher Atari.
Atari today confirmed that they would be publishing a new console version of CD Projekt Red's Polish RPG after a new developer diary was leaked over the weekend that mentioned a console version of the game.
The new game, which will be called
The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf is due out in Autumn 2009 and will be available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Atari has promised that while the game will have the same basic story, the rest of the game has been re-built and re-designed to fit a more console-centric approach. A new contextual combat system has also been confirmed for the game, which should make switching between weapons and attack styles a breeze.
The Witcher has already been released twice on the PC of course, with the original landing in 2007 and a new enhanced edition with some extra bonus content coming earlier this year. We reviewed both, naturally, so check out our thoughts on the original version of
The Witcher and
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.
The Witcher was a formidably hardcore RPG, so we're wondering if it will make the transition to consoles easily. What do you think? Let us know in
the forums.
