Wow... every so often, you stumble across an article on the net that makes you think... Wow.
No, not World of Warcraft - (well, actually, in a way, yes but...) - just an exclamation as to just what people get up to these days.
Tom's Hardware has an outrageously good article on
nude patches in video games.
Starting out at the Penthouse mod for Duke Nukem 3D, progressing through Tomb Raider up to the Sims 2, Half Life 2, and Max Payne 2, it seems that some creative types are always out there virtually stripping females.
Or even Orcs, since there's apparently nudity for WoW, too.
The author, James Francis, ends on this appropriate note:
For the mass-public, GTA's sex-act mod represents the advent of a potentially new - and according to Hillary Clinton, dangerous - path in the gaming biz. But, of course, we in the gaming community know that that there are many stimulating game mods out there already, including what we detail here. Don't tell Hillary Clinton and the mainstream media, though.
Quite right - the killjoys!
(Shameless plug: for an interesting piece on the legal implications of nudity modding, check out
this article that I wrote over at the Reg).
What are your thoughts? Sad geeks with no girlfriends giving us all a bad name, or a bit of harmless fun?
