Ubisoft has taken the wraps off seven new gaming titles coming soon to consoles, mobiles and PCs.
Leading the charge for PC is Tom Clancy's Endwar Online, a free-to-play browser-based reboot of the franchise that will see players “engage in numerous single player missions or put your skills to the test in intense player vs. player challenges in an epic power struggle for what little remains on Earth.”
Players control “the last Leader in the aftermath of WW3” as you try to rebuild your country, reunite your faction and “fight for what’s left, or perish trying.” The new RTS title will be available for PC and Mac and while there's no specific release date yet, beta signups are available now.
Next are two new additions to the Assassin's Creed range, Assassin's Creed Revelations HD and Assassin's Creed Pirates. The former is a remake of the PS Vita title for consoles while the latter is a new mobile game.
According to Ubisoft, Liberation HD offers “a complete graphical overhaul, re- mastered music and sound effects, a revamped gameplay experience, and new missions that dive deeper into Aveline’s story.” The game is set to hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC as a digital title in 2014.
Assassin's Creed Pirates will be coming to “high-end smartphones and tablets” this Autumn and centres around real-time naval battles. Players will be able to manage their crew and search for treasure, and ships will also be customizable, with players able to purchase upgrades such as “more cannons for your deck, a new rudder or better sails.” Meanwhile the game takes place in a "a huge map featuring paradise islands, volcanic shores, mangroves and many more gorgeous landscapes.”
The story follows the adventures of Alonzo Batilla “as he rises through the ranks of the fearful pirates of the golden age.” This game is not related to Assassin's Creed Black Flag or its accompanying mobile title but is instead a completely separate addition to the Assassin's Creed cannon.
Perhaps the two most intriguing titles are completely new franchises in the shape of Child of Light and Valiant Hearts - The Great War.
Child of Light is a Japanese RPG inspired game coming to Xbox 360, Wii U, PS3, PC, Xbox One and PS4. It focuses on a young princess named Aurora who is whisked away to the kingdom of Lemuria, only to find its inhabitants turned into crows. Aurora, along with her mystical blue orb companion, called Igniculus, must discover what has taken the land down a strange path.
Meanwhile Valiant Hearts is a stunning looking side-scroller that will be available on PC, PS3/4 and Xbox 360/One. It is “the story of 5 crossed destinies and a broken love in a world torn apart. All of them will try to survive the horror of the trenches following their faithful canine companion.”
Valiant Hearts takes place between 1914 and 1918 and tells the story of five characters: Emile, a French farmer; Freddie, an American soldier; Ana, a field medic; George, a British pilot; And Karl, a German soldier who is in love with Emile’s daughter. These five are joined by an adorable dog who intersects with each of their stories and helps them on their path.
Finally we have a couple of mobile additions to the Rabbids and Rayman series in the form of Rabbids Big Bang and Rayman Fiesta Run, both of which will be heading to iOS and Android devices later in the Autumn.
Rabbids Big Bang is a physics-based game that sends the Rabbids to space and has players use “one-touch gameplay” to pilot a Rabbid and “control its trajectory by using your jetpack’s boost and planets’ gravity.” Players will have to keep an eye on their jetpack’s fuel gauge, and will be able to upgrade their character’s attributes as well as customize their look. It will feature 150 missions spread across 10 different worlds.
Rayman Fiesta Run meanwhile is a sequel to last year’s hugely popular Rayman Jungle Run and features more than 75 new levels in four new worlds, as well as new abilities including swimming, shrinking and Super Punch.
We're currently at Ubisoft's annual showcase event where we'll be getting hands on with all these new games so keep your eyes peeled for previews.
