The release dates for the various versions of
Unreal Tournament 3 are starting to confuse me, seriously. If I've got all my facts straight though, the PC version will be out later this week, the PlayStation 3 version wil be out in December or some time next year depending on
who you listen to and the Xbox 360 will get a port at some undefined point in the future.
What's weird though is that Mark Rein has recently fessed up and said that the game is already playable on the Xbox 360 - and has been since last spring!
In a comment to
Joystiq, Mark Rein clarified earlier reports on the state of the 360 port.
"
What I probably should have said was 'start working on it again'. We had the game up and running on all three platforms up until last spring...We stopped working on the 360 version so we could concentrate our efforts on shipping the various PC and PS3 versions."
Unreal Tournament 3, which
we recently chatted to Mark Rein about ourselves, was originally announced as a PlayStation 3 console exclusive but that changed at E3 this year.
"
Once we get the PC and PS3 versions out of the way, and take some time to enjoy the holidays with our friends and families, we'll start working on the 360 version again...There's still a decent bit of work to do. For example we have simple LAN play but no Xbox Live implementation yet and we need to work with Microsoft to figure out how to accommodate mods on their platform." Rein said, clarifying the status of the 360 version.
With the question about which version will prove most popular still unanswered, we put it to you: Which version will you be picking up and why? Let us know in
