An exec from publishing giant EA reckons that the Wii will cost around $170 when it's released in the States later this year.
In an interview with
GamesIndustry.biz, David Gardner says that:
"I've heard in Japan that the price is about $170, but I don't know if the price has been set in Europe yet... Nintendo has come up with a very clever strategy, they've made a choice which is great for the consumer. Now we're going to have a choice whereby consumers can buy a Wii, plus one other console."
That would be substantially below the $250 that is being widely predicted, and could lead to a theoretical sub-£100 price point in the UK (although we do think that rather unlikely, given the general rip-off Britain principle).
However, even at £130 or so, the Wii would represent pretty good value nest to the £99 PS2 or the £499 PS3.
What price would you be tempted in at - or does the price of what is sure to be an icnredibly popular console not even matter to you? Let us know your thoughts over in the
