How many of you were alive when Wolfenstein 3D came out? It might sound like a stupid question, but it's easy to forget that it was 1992 when it was published by id Software - meaning anyone under 13 wouldn't have been alive, and anyone under 20 probably missed the boat and ended up going straight to Doom.
The franchise has become a successful one for id, with the last update - Return to Castle Wolfenstein - being built on the Quake 3 engine, and being a pretty fine game.
The next in the series is due out on the Xbox 360 and PC in 2007.
However, those hankering for some nostalgia - or those bored at work without the capacity to install .exes - will enjoy this flash rendering of the game. It's part game, part tech demo - it's amazing to see just how much can be done with Flash these days.
With Wolfenstein loooong released to the public, it's legal, too.
So, go and see if you can beat your old scores, or go and experience the wonders of Wolfie for the first time. Forget Doom -
this was the genesis of First Person Shooters. How long before we get a film of this, too?
Check the game out
here. In the meantime, let us know your Wolfenstein creds in
