Publisher Majesco has announced that it will be bringing a HD
Serious Sam game to the Xbox Live Arcade later this summer, dubbed
Serious Sam HD.
Being developed by original
Serious Sam developer Croteam,
Serious Sam HD will be an improved and tweaked remake of the first game in the series,
Serious Sam: The First Encounter.
According to
Eurogamer it'll go on sale later this summer and will cost 1200 Microsoft Points - that's about £10 GBP in other words.
Something of a homage to the
Duke Nukem games, the
Serious Sam series is all about pitting players against impossibly huge monsters and mind-bogglingly massive swarms of increasingly bizarre enemies. We still personally consider a co-op match of
The Great Pyramid level in Serious Sam: The First Encounter to be one of the most fun things that you can do with a computer. Especially if you put it on to the hardest difficulty, which makes all enemies invisible.
Serious Sam HD will include all 12 levels from the original game, complete with all the hilarious secrets and cheesy quotes you'd expect and all-new effects and enhanced visuals for the Xbox 360. No explicit mention has yet been made about online or offline multiplayer, but we'd be very shocked if there wasn't some form of co-op option in the full game.
