In what could be one of the weirdest cases of possible celebrity endorsement ever, it's emerged that Paul McCartney's ex-wife Heather Mills was considered to take the title role in Capcom's Bionic Commando.

Heather, who lost her left leg below the knee after being hit by a motorbike a number of years ago, could have taken the role now filled by Nathan Spencer, who is voiced by Mike Patton.

Interestingly, there seems to be some dispute over why Heather didn't get the part and how exactly she wanted to be paid too. Addressing fans in her twitter feed, Heather claimed that she was "offered to promote an amputee bionic computer game, from a wealthy computer games company I said if you donate a large sum to charity."

"The stingy company came back saying they couldn't, what happened to charitable businesses, seems they just want to exploit and give nothing," came further twitters. "It may make sense to take the offer but I'd rather donate regularly to many charities much more than they're offering and not be exploited."

Capcom may remember the event differently however, with The Sun claiming sources close to Capcom say that Heather pursued the role and was looking for a six-figure fee.

"She was insistent she wouldn't do it for a smaller fee and said the producers should make her the star. The request was way, way over budget and they certainly weren't keen on basing the game on her," the anonymous source told the tabloid.

Heather has claimed that those latter reports are erroneous, while Capcom has refused to comment on the topic any further. Either way, it doesn't make much of a difference - our opinion of Bionic Commando couldn't get much worse.
