While the true twitch gamer would never be seen dead using a joypad, there's a growing market for high-performance gaming accessories for console gamers - at least, that's N-Control's reasoning behind the launch of the Avenger accessory for the Xbox 360.

Designed to strap to an existing Xbox 360 controller, the Avenger is a rather scary looking framework of levers and pulleys that moves the layout of the controller's buttons around for quick access during the heat of the moment.

Although the company admits that gamers choosing the Avenger will be in for a period of adjustment before they start to see improvements in their performance - more specifically, N-Control claims that 'before you can wield this powerful tool like a true Jedi, you need to give yourself time to adjust to its enhanced speed, accuracy, stability, and comfort' - it claims that there are significant gains to be made for those willing to put in the effort.

Like an increasing number of gaming mice, the Avenger includes a high level of adjustability, with the company even going so far as to turn the two triggers on the Xbox 360 controller into hair-triggers with adjustable tension. Most ridiculous of all, however, is the included tripod, which the company claims offers 'added stability and precision' for those who don't need to move around a lot during gaming sessions.

The N-Control Avenger, for those convinced of its obvious game-changing superiority, is available direct from the manufacturer priced at $59, but sadly there's no news yet of a UK launch.

Do you think that the Avenger looks like the ultimate Xbox 360 controller accessory, or is it a ridiculous waste of money? Share your thoughts over in the forums.
