Remedy Studios has indicated that it may well look to develop a sequel to upcoming mystery title
Alan Wake, though it admits that it will mostly depend on whether the first game is successful or not.
Writing on the
official forums (via
Eurogamer), Remedy's Mikko Rautalahti said that it was "
really up in the air" at the moment, since the first game isn't even out yet.
Remedy does have high hopes though, no doubt buoyed by positive advance reviews which suggest good things for the finished product. Unfortunately, our own copy of
Alan Wake has been sadly delayed so we haven't had a chance to look at it since our
Alan Wake preview.
"
Clearly, it's been a critical success; the fact that some people feel differently about it doesn't change the fact that of the scores listed in the first post of this thread, there are eight perfect scores, and over 40 give us a 9 or a better," said Mikko.
"
Only 7 reviews have given us a score of less than 8. That tells us in no uncertain terms that there's a lot of love for Alan Wake out there, and we'd have to be complete goddamn idiots to not be satisfied with that."
"
I mean, sure, the next time, we definitely hope to top that, it's nice to have something to aim for, but we're pretty damn far from disappointed."
While plans for a sequel will depend on how well the first game sells, Mikko said that the
Alan Wake team is already at work on the DLC.
Whether or not the success of the game will influence the chances of
a PC release for Alan Wake remains to be seen.
