Ubisoft reckons there could be plenty of longevity in the
Assassin's Creed franchise, according to
Assassin's Creed 2 producer Sébastien Puel, who claims that there could be up to 35 games in the series.
"
I'm often asked if we're doing a third game after Assassin's Creed 2... I mean, we could do 35 of these," he told
Xbox World 360.
Ubisoft is acutely aware of how the genetic memory aspect of the plot could be exploited then, with the story having unlimited instalments set throughout all theatres of human history.
According to Puel, Ubisoft has already discussed where other titles might be set - with World War II being a
depressingly obvious and popular choice. Ubisoft is especially keen on the idea of a female assassin operating in England and France through the course of World War II it seems, while the men are off fighting in the war and a new power hierarchy emerges.
"
So maybe in this context you were a woman in England during WWII. Why not? Nothing prevents us from doing it," he said.
As for
Assassin's Creed 2, it's due out on November 20th for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and is set in Renaissance Italy. You can check out
