Google has announced that it is on the hunt for Europe's most talented computer scientists with the launch of its Code Jam computer programming competition.
The company sees the Code Jam competition as a way to potentially recruit some of the best coders in a move to attract talented individuals to its growing number of European R&D centres.
A representative from the search giant said that the competition
"is one of many ways [we] try and support engineering, programming and computer science communities around the world."
The competition entrants will select their preferred programming languages before sitting down to solve a number of programming tasks. The qualifying, first and second rounds will all take place online, with the tasks lasting for 60-75 minutes.
The qualifying round will run from 11am GMT May 23rd through to 11am May 24th with 500 spaces up for grabs in the first round. Round one takes place on May 30th at 7pm and this will reduce the competition to a 200-strong field. The remaining contestants will compete for one of fifty places in the June 29th final in Dublin, Ireland.
Finalists will share prizes totalling €20,000, with the top Code Jammer walking away with a around €2,500. You can find out more details
