The next entry in the realistic driving simulator series Gran Turismo will feature lunar driving according to a new trailer released by developer Polyphony Digital.
Gran Turismo 6's car list includes the Lunar Roving Vehicle LEV-001 '71 which looks to be based on the Apollo 15 LRV. It is unclear whether or not the corresponding moon racing track is limited to only this vehicle or if you can take any of your cars up in to space.
The racing series has a reputation for its near fetishistic attention to detail and will now also include a full simulation of the stars during night tracks with accurate positions of the stars and constellations. If you were to wait around long enough, you would also apparently be able to see the stars and moon moving across the night sky with the passage of time.
Gran Turismo 6 is aiming for an early December release and is being launched on the Playstation 3. The title will feature more than 1100 cars and approximately 100 tracks across 37 locations. Just over 120 of the cars will be featuring in the series for the first time.
The Gran Turismo series has been one of Sony's most popular exclusive titles since the original Playstation. Combined, all entries have sold 61m units making it the highest selling Playstation exclusive franchise in the console's history. The first entry in the series was released in 1997.
