At Computex 2013 Lian Li demonstrated its ultimate LAN case, the Mini-ITX PC-TU100, alongside a whole heap of new Mini-ITX, MATX, ATX and super-sized E-ATX cases.
Lian Li’s got plenty of previous with the Mini-ITX form factor, being amongst the first to release a Mini-ITX case with a focus on full-size parts. Its latest offering at Computex 2013 the company took Mini-ITX form factor one step further, with the positively teeny PC-TU100. Measuring in at just 170mm x 277mm x 252mm it uses an SFX PSU mounted above the motherboard and a slim-line optical drive to keep its volume down. There’s still room for 190mm (7.4in) long graphics cards, and a front 120mm intake fan handles cooling.
An integrated handle in the roof makes for an incredibly portable case, making it potentially one of the the best LAN cases we've yet seen. The handle is plastic but the rest of the case is made of Lian Li’s trade-mark aluminium. While the size-limitations do reduce the hardware choices (in particular the 60mm of CPU cooler clearance) the TU100 is a truly portable small-form factor case that we’re looking forward to getting our hands on.
Lian Li had plenty more to show off too, with the PC-V358 Micro-ATX case catching our attention with an innovative hinged lid that swings out of the way to quickly reveal the motherboard tray and drive cages beneath. The case also makes use of Lian Li’s new signature feature; hinged radiator mounts. The pair of 120mm fan mounts swings away from the case for easy access and fitting, before locking back into place when the lid is closed.
The Lian Li PC-V358 uses a new hinged lid design
The Lian Li PC-D600 also stood out, thanks to a design that’s sure to make modders stand up and pay attention. Looking like the result of a pair of ATX cases bolted together, the front compartment houses the PSU and motherboard tray, while the rear half boasts a pile of 5.25in drive bays and enough fan mounts for even the most ambitious water-cooling setup. This obviously makes it a rather large case but for those who value expandability it delivers in spades.
The Lian Li PC-D600 is huge, with enough extra drive bays and fan mounts for even the craziest of liquid cooling systems
Rounding out Lian Li’s Computex 2013 débutantes was the PC-Q30, a further Mini-ITX case which is all about showing off the Mini-ITX build inside. The curved aluminium fascia and Perspex window look great, with the PSU and drive bays housed beneath. It’s still an early prototype though.
The PC-Q30 is a new windowed Mini-ITX case, while the PC-TU100 is a more conventional (but still super small) design
