Yesterday, AMD launched its RX 470 GPU, as you'll know if you read our Sapphire RX 470 Nitro OC 4GB review. Sapphire, of course, was not the only AIB with an RX 470 card, and we've summarised alternative offerings from the biggest AMD AIC partners including MSI, Gigabyte, PowerColor and Asus.
MSI has launched AMD RX 470 Polaris architecture graphics cards in 4GB and 8GB configurations. These are the Radeon RX 470 Gaming X 4G and Radeon RX 470 Gaming X 8G cards respectively. Whichever you choose, MSI has fitted a Twin Frozr VI cooler with glowing fans and RGB gaming dragon logo. The cards employ a custom 6-phase design, an 8-pin power connector, and the usual MSI Military Class 4 components.
Gigabyte's solution, the RX 470 G1 Gaming, predictably features a Windforce cooler. In this case the Windforce 2X is used, which integrates three copper heat pipes, with two 90mm fans featuring a unique blade fan design, 3D active fan with LED indicators, plus a 'stylish metal back plate'. RGB lighting is integrated and it offers various activity modes. Users can easily overclock this card further using Gigabyte's Super Overclocking utility and you shouldn't be disappointed with the results thanks to GPU Gauntlet Sorting. Like MSI, Gigabyte has fitted an 8-pin power connector.
PowerColor has launched the Red Devil RX 470 4GB GDDR5. This card features the most aggressive out-of-the-box GPU overclock of this roundup at 1,270MHz. Its best performance is toggled via overclocking mode using a BIOS switch. Keeping things cool, PowerColor has implemented a cooler with Double Blade III fans made with dual 80mm 2-ball bearing fans, and two 8mm and another two 6mm nickel-plated heat pipes. The card also features a backplate securing the copper based thermal module. Yes, the card also sports an 8-pin power connector.
Sapphire has launched 4GB and 8GB Nitro+ design AMD RX 470 Polaris graphics cards, plus a silvery Platinum card, with a rather negligible overclock compared to reference. Focussing on the top performing Nitro+ Radeon RX 470 cards, these sport the Sapphire Dual-X Cooling system. They feature fans with 95mm blades plus dual ball bearing fans. For cool and efficient reliability Sapphire employs Black Diamond Chokes. RGB LED frills are powered by Nitro Glow, and you can tune and overclock your card using TriXX 3.0. An 8-pin power connector is fitted.
Asus has revealed the RX 470 Strix 4GB, available in two versions: one with reference clocks and one that's pre-overclocked. The overclocked one defaults to 1,250MHz, but can be set to 1,270MHz in OC Mode through the GPU Tweak II software. Similarly, the reference-clocked card can be set to 1,226MHz in the same way. The cards sport Asus's DirectCU II cooler with patented wing-blade fans and Asus FanConnect. They're manufactured using Asus's 100 percent automated Auto-Extreme technology with Super Alloy Power II components. Customisable Aura RGB lighting is included too.
