When one sets out to mod a case to take to a LAN event, normally the objective is to show off individual modding skill and artistic flair; hey everyone, look what I created. The case reflecteth the modder, so to speak.

So when that case is pink, with My Little Pony artwork on the side, it raises certain questions about the person who created it. In this instance, the Annarchy Case was created by first-time modder "altmann", who was quick to point out that he is in fact a happily married man.

The project was inspired by the Penny Arcade character Annarchy, based on Tycho's young niece Ann, and her quest to attend the 1000 Man LAN. Denied by her overly-protective parents, she was released from purgatory by Uncle Tycho in a daring late-night rescue.

Having made it to the event, Annarchy was teased via various geeks for her signature My Little Pony case with matching pink peripherals. It was this system that altmann decided to build for real and take it to the PAX 05 (Penny Arcade Expo) held two weeks ago in Seattle.

As altmann says, it takes every ounce of manhood to stand in the doll section of the hobby store asking which markers make up a rainbow.... You can read his full worklog at HardForums. Ultimately, he had the last laugh, as the project caught the attention of Penny Arcade creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins aka Gabe and Tycho (pictured below). They even signed his case.

He may have a pink computer, but it's also now an autographed piece of web history. My Little Pwny, some might say... Thanks to Steve at [H]ardOCP for the heads up.

Is pink the new chrome? Will we see a rash of Cabbage Patch PCs now? Does Barbie use Intel or AMD? Share your thoughts.
