We wish we all could be California Modders, as the Beach Boys never sung. If you're a SoCal modder, or are within driving distance of the Pasadena Conference Center, polish up your chrome highlights and be there 30th & 31st of July for
LANFest 2K5, where you could win some serious prizes, thanks to sponsor NewEgg.
Like what, you ask? Well, how does an eVGA Geforce 7800GTX graphics card for the Top Three cases grab you? The overall winner will receive some $1400 worth of goodies, including the 7800GTX, an Athlon 64 4000+ processor and an AOpen barebones system. The full list of prizes is
here.
You may only submit one case for judging, and you will be graded for Creativity, Arrangement, Aesthetics, Functionality, and "WOW" factor. Veteran case-modders Paul "Crimson Sky" Capello (creator of the
Doom 3: Project Mars City) and Jeffrey L. Stephenson (creator of the
Humidor casemod series) will be in attendance with several of their famous CaseMods.
At the other end of the hall, the multiplayer gaming action promises to be intense, with $70,000 worth of cash and hardware up for grabs. Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike 1.6 and Call of Duty are the games, and the five-man teams stand to win an Ultimate Gaming PC each and $1500 in cash.
You must pre-register before the event, and there are still plenty of spots for all tournaments as well as the BYOC area, so
sign up! If you're there, as a competitor or just a spectator, send us your photos so we can check out the CaseMod competition.
Are you part of the SoCal Scene? Who do you think will be the favourites for this competition? Will it be the usual suspects, or is there new talent on the horizon? Hit our
