Microsoft has officially put the HD DVD drive add-on to bed, permanently. So a Blu-ray drive replacement seems entirely logical, right? Sure, Microsoft may be a bit bashful about having backed the wrong horse, but it's only a matter of time, right?
According to a statement released by Microsoft executive Aaron Greenberg, the group product manager for the Xbox 360, Microsoft has no plans whatsoever to develop a Blu-ray drive add-on for the Xbox 360. In fact, Microsoft isn't currently thinking to add any new high-definition players to the console.
"Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience...We're the only console offering digital distribution of entertainment content,
" Greenburg said
. Apparently Microsoft thinks that's enough then.
Greenberg then went on to explain that the reason the PlayStation 3 had outsold the Xbox 360 in the US last month was because of supply problems. He added that come April though, they'll be in a much stronger position - just in time for GTA 4
