This is, absolutely, the greatest thing in the world.

It's R2D2. for real.

Developed by a Japanese electronics firm and fully licensed by LucasFilm, it's a functioning R2D2 model that acts as a mini home theatre centre. It has a projector built into the top - just like the real R2 - as well as USB ports, an iPod dock, a DVD drive and component inputs for hooking up to a video source.

Using a remote control shaped like the Millenium Falcon, R2 can move around at your whim, as well as 'lie down', enabling you to project onto the ceiling.

It will run you around $2500, but it's a real R2D2 that will be your trusty sidekick, whether or not you live in a galaxy far, far away. Even if the Force isn't with you, R2 will be.

This is the single most awesome thing at the CES show. If you're a Star Wars geek, like me, the idea of this will have you hooked and drooling like nothing else on this planet.

Nothing can explain this except for pictures - so here you go.

Enjoy - and let us know your thoughts in the forums.
