Enermax has unveiled the latest in its case range, and it's an eye-catcher of a box: the Enermax Steelwing, which is somewhat confusingly constructed from aluminium.
Designed to draw attention, the body of the Enermax Steelwing is built from aluminium with a 3.5mm side panel built from the same material on the motherboard side of the case. The components, meanwhile, are exposed to view through a 3mm tinted tempered glass panel taking up the entire side, with the case surface itself anodised and sandblasted to give a finish the company claims is entirely corrosion and fingerprint resistant.
While it may be called the Steelwing, Enermax is clear on why it hasn't used steel as the main material. By building the case from aluminium, the company claims, it has been able to improve heat dissipation from within up to three times compared to the same design in steel, while the wing-shaped front panel with its seven stacked aluminium plates offers maximum airflow for the bundled 120mm colour-matching LED intake fan.
Inside, the Steelwing can accept a single 3.5in and a single 2.5in hard drive in a rear storage bracket, a 3.5in hard drive in the front or a 120mm fan or all-in-one liquid cooler, VGA cards up to 290mm in length, CPU coolers up to 80mm in height, and micro-ATX or mini-ITX motherboards with up to three externally-accessible expansion slots, and requires an SFX power supply. Overall, the case measures 387mm deep, 176mm wide, and 300mm in height.
